books, TV Shows, art, music, & more.

Hello Bookworms.
I know it seems as if I've disappeared under a rock or have been locked away in a permanent slumber (heehee tell me in the comments if you got that Panic! At the Disco reference whahaha) ....
but I've been busy with school and track and hooray! Also you know that story that I've been working on with my friend Jane?
Well. Just an update:
We've decided to name it "Winter Hearts" and it's turning out amazingly (a bit over 120 pages so yay....)! We're stuck with a little writers' block, unfortunately. We're trying to come up with a huge plot twist and we think we have it. However, it's a bit... melodramatic. hmmm to be honest the entire thing is melodramatic :) I think it's good though. More details once we've gotten a little bit further in.

A NOTE: please stay till the end. It might seem kind of long but we have a lot to catch up on!!!!

Anyway, I haven't done any reviews or book updates lately so here you go!
here's what I've been reading/loving...

The DUFF by Kody Keplinger: It's a whole lot different than the movie. I think it's very well written, especially because I think Keplinger wrote it when she was 15 or something, but it's a bit over the top in my opinion. And really gross. I guess. I'd say that if you're under maybe 14-ish... don't read it.
Overall Rating: this is pretty opinionated, but maybe 3.5 out of 5? NOT because i didn't enjoy it, but probably because it was a little.... extraneous, I'll say that. I think the movie's far less inappropriate, haha.

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald: duh.  everybody should read this at some point in their lives... but as you ALL probably know, it is an extremely "sophisticated," highly acclaimed work of literature. I'm still on it right now, and to be honest, I'm finding it fairly hard to make it past page thirty. That's probably because I'm not sure if I'm ready yet... I'm still working through it! I started it a few months ago but I stopped. I recently picked it up again yesterday. I'll let you guys know when I'm done :)
Overall Rating is I Don't Feel Like Rating This Now To Be Honest

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak:  now my absolute favorite book. Ever. Ever. Like ever. A quick summary: as a young adolescent during the time of WWII, Liesel Meminger has braved losing her mother to the nazis (they accused her of being a communist) and her brother to a horrible, fatal cold, and is sent to her new foster parents Hans and Rosa Hubermann. Liesel has a love of literature, but for two reasons she has not been able to read it: It is for the most part frowned upon unless it is not about the Führer, and because she is not really able to read. With the help of Hans, Liesel grows to love words and books and learns of their power throughout her early teen years during the holocaust. READ THIS PLEASE. YOU WILL LOVE IT. SERIOUSLY. Plus a twist: the entire thing is narrated by "Death" --- oooh mysterious
Overall Rating: 50 BILLION OUT OF 5 loooolllasldlfdi dfdf
Okay not that much ha. maybe 12 out of 5?
Anyway you'll love it. promise.
Or maybe not you are strong and have the right to your own opinions yay
"so. moving on," she awkwardly mumbles...

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver: in the typical "groundhog day" premise, Samantha Kingston (Sam) possibly "dies" question mark? In a drunken car accident with her friends returning from a party. Sam seems to be the only one going through this inexplicable experience where she repeats the day of her doomed fate over and over again. It's very interesting, sort of a mix between "Thirteen Reasons Why" and "If I Stay." Gives you a lot to think about.
definitely a young adult one, don't really recommend this unless you are around fourteen or older.
Overall Rating: 4.5 out of 5. Or 4.2? not my favorite, but well written :)

Moving on to.....

MUSIC!

A Few Bands and Artists: I'm really starting to like "Panic! At the Disco" -- I suggest "This is Gospel," mainly because it's been stuck in my head the entire day? Also, if you are a true Maroon 5 fan, you know that their first album is their AMAZING BEST FANTABULOUS PERFECT ONE (songs about Jane), so I've been listening to some of their old stuff. A few songs that I suggest by them that you maybe/possibly? haven't heard of: Harder To Breathe, Figure It Out, plus honorable mention: Lost Stars from a movie that Adam Levine was in called "Begin Again." What else~  I've been listening to quite a bit of Florence and the Machine lately. Some suggestions from theirs: You've Got The Love, Shake It Out, No Light, No Light. ooh and i love Fiona Apple! Some favorites: Paper Bag, Pure Imagination (a cover from Willy Wonka), Criminal. A new interest: My Chemical Romance. I typically don't love that type of stuff, but I LOVE it. lololololol

Secondly, I recently found this girl on ig, and she is FANTASTIC. Her name is Tris Day, but she goes by "Chilled Tris" on Instagram. She does lots of covers and writes her own music too which is cool!

Goodbye, my bookworms. Nice to hear from you again :)

Here's a question to leave you thinking:
